Wright City R-II has an opening for an Early Childhood/floating 12-month custodian beginning as early as July 1, 2024. 

 

Position Title:        Custodian

Reports To:            Director of Facilities

 

Summary: Performs various manual tasks used in the cleaning and basic repair of buildings, equipment, and structures owned and/or maintained by the school district.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. General cleaning of halls, classrooms, offices, restrooms, and all facilities.
  2. Assists with floor maintenance, including stripping and waxing floors.
  3. Operates and maintains mechanized equipment including but not limited to motor vehicles, vacuum sweeper, scrubber, buffers, fork lift, scissor lift and snowblowers.
  4. Assists with deliveries of packages.
  5. Shovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spreads sand, salt, or cinders to prevent slipping.
  6. Removes litter from landscape and performs minor landscaping duties to maintain and care for school grounds.
  7. Adjusts and repairs such equipment as vacuums, scrubbers and other equipment as needed.
  8. Washes, cleans and maintains department tools, and equipment.
  9. Complies with state law, district policies and procedures.
  10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
AHERA Awareness Training preferred

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills

Basic computer literacy is required.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Physical Demands
While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach. The employee is frequently required to stoop and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally team lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Regular attendance on the job is expected.

 

 

Terms of Employment:

Terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, agreements, and approvals.  This is a 12-month non-exempt position.
