East Elementary has an opening for a Kindergarten teacher starting second semester of the 2024-2025 school year.
Position Title: Teacher
Reports To: Principal
Summary: Provides all students with an educational program that will enable them to reach their fullest potential and meet the outcomes stated in the Missouri Learning Standards and MAP assessment.
Job Responsibilities:
Instruction and Learning – Student achievement/performance and staff growth
- Supervises all students assigned in instructional activities.
- Assists in planning and developing curriculum in order to meet competency requirements.
- Establishes learning objectives for each lesson and maintains lesson plans for each instructional unit.
- Develops and adapts instructional materials and experiences to meet individual student needs, aptitudes and interests, using, as necessary, a variety of strategies.
- Assesses and records student accomplishments on a regular basis through an approved grading scale.
- Develops and implements a variety of teaching strategies.
- Establishes and maintains an effective climate for learning.
- Utilizes appropriate classroom management and discipline procedures.
- Maintains appropriate substitute teacher file.
- Evaluates and recommends instructional aid and textbooks.
- Attends and participates in individualized educational conferences.
- Provides technical assistance and consultation to special education staff.
- Serves as positive role model and leader for students to follow.
- Assesses and reassesses as required, needs and performance of students.
- Uses designated curriculum to develop and implement lesson plans and activities.
- Observes safety precautions to protect students, equipment and facilities.
- Participates on committees, in meetings and in professional growth activities as approved by supervisor.
- Maintains supply and equipment inventory and orders in accordance with budget.
- Attends and participates in student related activities, such as clubs, sports, concerts and community events.
- Uses instructional time effectively and maximizes time on task.
- Assumes responsibility for his/her professional growth and development.
- Manages student behavior in an appropriate and constructive manner.
- Establish and maintain proper student conduct and enforces district standards.
- Maintains open communications with parents/guardians for the benefit of student learning.
Collaboration
- Meets with teachers, therapists, administration, parents and others as needed.
Compliance
- Maintains accurate attendance records on students and follows school procedures for reporting student attendance.
- Enforces safety policies and practices required by the federal and state laws, the school district.
- Follows District’s policies and procedures as adopted by the Board of Education.
- Reviews state and district standards for subject area and provides instruction which enables students to meet designated standards.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in the area of teaching as required for the position.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Missouri Department of Education Teacher Certification is required for the position.

Language Skills

Physical Demands
While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop or kneel and occasionally lift and move up to 35 pounds. Regular attendance on the job is expected.
Terms of Employment:
Contract terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, agreements and approvals. This is a 9-month position.
